Syd Mead Signs On To Design Elysium

Theatre visionary and sci-fi legend Syd Mead has signed on to design your sets of Neill Blomkamp’s next flick Elysium. For those of you who don’t recognize who Mr. Mead is (pity on you!), he’s the future-mad idea artist who worked on Sharp edge Runner, Tron, Aliens and designed Ashton 5 of Short Signal (and ehh… cough…. Timecop). “I’ve called science fiction ‘reality ahead of schedule.’” is a good quote from the man. He’s well worth checking out. Not a great deal is known about Elysium yet, various other then it’ll star Shiny Damon, Jodie Foster and Sharlto Copley, and that it’ersus set 100 years in the future.

Right now, after District 9, and that Elysium viral trailer (that seriously had my friends scared hahaha), I became already very drawn to this, but with the addition of Syd Mead ramped this video up to another level of “DAMN I need to see this”ness. I’deborah love if this ends up getting another iconic looking sci-fi. Just about any thoughts?

For a second year, KCRW’s out of stock Halloween ball Masquerade drew probably the most creatively costumed music-loving revelers to the legendary Recreation area Plaza in Downtown LA. Repeatedly, I overheard attendees talking about how much of an amazing venue it was for the party – with five designed rooms, a patio, and a back again lot with food trucks, you could keep moving all night in order to find interesting things to see and do at every turn.

While people-watching was undoubtedly a highlight — I travelled as Daphne with my sweetheart Fred (from Scooby Doo) and we also found a Shaggy and Velma within the crowd! – the music was extraordinary.

KCRW DJ Henry Rollins was in true form. No-one seemed to me having more enjoyable than him him because he mixed his usual untamed assortment of tunes, wearing the particular superman costume from the Rollins Wedding ring video for “Liar.” It was a vacation in watch the same angry frontman dance to songs of their own choosing behind the patio’s. (apparently he ran his set list by Ian Mackaye for some suggestions). Cut Chemist’s set in the area next door had the striped bass thumping so hard it made flowing hair stand on end – in the best method. Watching a gorilla and his zoo owner get crazy to Cut’s sensational turntabalism – along with hundreds of others loaded in the room — was a blast.

Grooving throngs packed the 2nd flr Grand Ballroom for DJ models from Jason Bentley (dressed as a Roman waior), Raul Campos (dressed as a Mexican wrestler), along with Valida (dressed as a fox). They got the crowd moving whilst Duke Spirit and Gram Rabbit brought the rock and roll in the room next door. Gram Rabbit’s trippy psychedelic madness was a perfect fit upon Halloween and it was fantastic to see Duke Spirit’s new tunes live for the first time. Leila Moss is one of independent rock’s best frontwomen – she is so effective and had the whole crowd wrapped around her finger. Late adds Leftover Cuties transported a crammed room to the underground jazz music clubs of 1930’s New York although Lucent Dossier’s stilt walkers made jaws decline as they made their methods through the crowd.

What a terrible idea.’ Gus said ‘no I really want to see what would come about.’ … Ben and I does a whole draft, with a wake and everything. … then Gus read it said ‘okay its a terrible concept let’s go back to what we had.’

But then he went on to discuss how Malick helped these people change the ending:

We had that in the script that my personal character and Minnie’s left together at the end of the movie. Terry don’t read the script, but all of us explained the whole story in order to him, and in the middle of the dinner, he said, ‘I think it would be better if she remaining and he went after her.I And Ben and I checked out each other. It was one of those items where you go: of course which is better. He said it and that he probably doesn’t even keep in mind that he said it. He started discussing Antonioni. ‘In Italian movies a guy only leaves town at the end understanding that enough.’ And we explained of course that’s enough. That’s where we come from. If you merely leave that’s a big enough package. It doesn’t have to build up to something more.

All in all, if Reiner and Goldman we hadn’t offered their sage advice, when Van Sant didn’t ultimately believe Ben and Matt and when Malick never gave them his two cents, ‘Good Will Hunting’ could have been about a kid who is heavily courted by the F.B.My partner and i., mourns the loss of his best friend to your freak accident and then goes off into the sunset using the love of his life.

Over the weekend we all brought you an image of Hugo Weaving since Johann Schmidt in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger.Ha In the image (which was scanned via SFX Magazine), Schmidt is holding the actual Cosmic Cube, which is one of the more potent tools in the Marvel galaxy and one that will probably enjoy a larger role in more than one upcoming Marvel movie. The person who possesses the cube has the capacity to do anything, really, from virtually reshaping the world to opening other dimensions.

In the motion picture, due out on July 22nd, Skipper America must stop Schmidt (also referred to as Red Skull) from managing the cube. One of our rules is if I can not dance in it…no way! After all, I do wear my personal collection nearly every morning & even when on the road doing appearances & Rockabilly shows.

I also Wish to use colorful images. It is so nice to present a new point of view fairly then regurgitate what there is currently a gluttony of.

Which are the best parts of your task?

The best parts of my personal job are figuring out I helped other females feel better about them selves & inspired them to adhere to their dreams.
